Stork News, operated by Gavin Gregory, a sole proprietor based in Texas, United States (“we”, “our”, “us”), is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
When you create a Stork News account, we collect your name, email address, and password. During onboarding and ongoing use, we also collect the sources you choose to follow (such as X (Twitter) handles, RSS feeds, Substack URLs, and YouTube channels via RSS), along with your delivery preferences (email, Telegram, Discord, audio, or webhook), your chosen delivery schedule, and basic usage analytics such as login frequency and feature engagement. We do not collect or store account credentials for any third-party platform; we only monitor publicly available content from the sources you specify.
We use your information to generate and deliver your personalized intelligence briefs. This includes fetching public content from the sources you've configured, processing it through Anthropic's Claude API to produce your brief, generating a brief title and optional spoken-word audio through OpenAI's API, and delivering the resulting digest via your chosen channels: email (Gmail or SMTP), Telegram message, Discord message, a downloadable MP3 audio file, or an outbound webhook. Your email address is used for account authentication and for delivering your brief and essential account messages. During Beta we do not send marketing email.
Stork News uses Anthropic's Claude models to analyze and summarize publicly available content from the sources you've configured — Claude Haiku 4.5 for Pro briefs and Claude Sonnet 4.6 for Max briefs. That content is sent to Anthropic's API for processing. Anthropic does not use data submitted via their API to train their models. OpenAI's API is used for two narrower tasks: generating a short title for each brief and producing spoken-word audio via text-to-speech. OpenAI does not use data submitted via their API to train their models. We do not send your personal information (name, email, password) to Anthropic or OpenAI — only the public source content required to generate your brief.
We rely on a limited number of trusted third-party services to operate Stork News:
RSS, Substack, and YouTube (via RSS) content is fetched directly over public HTTP, so no third-party API provider is involved for those sources.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers or data brokers.
Your account data, including your profile, sources, delivery preferences, and generated briefs, is stored in Supabase, which provides our authentication, database, and file storage. Supabase encrypts data at rest, and your password is stored only as a bcrypt hash, never in plaintext. Our backend runs on Railway and our frontend is hosted on Vercel. All data in transit is protected via HTTPS/TLS, and we apply rate limiting and input validation across our API.
Stork News is operated by a solo founder. Access to production systems is limited to the operator and protected by multi-factor authentication. If we ever become aware of a breach affecting your personal data, we will notify affected users without undue delay after we confirm it, describing what happened and the steps we are taking.
We retain the intelligence briefs we generate for you for a limited period based on your plan (up to 90 days on Pro and up to 365 days on Max), after which they are automatically and permanently deleted. If you delete your account from your settings, all of your personal data is removed immediately.
You have the right to:
Stork News is offered to users in the United States during its Beta period, and we are not currently marketing or offering the service to users in the European Union or United Kingdom. We extend the core rights above (access, portability, correction, and erasure) to every user as a voluntary commitment, regardless of whether laws such as the GDPR or California's CCPA would require them. We do not sell or share your personal information. The in-app export and delete options in your account settings are the primary way to exercise these rights; if you have questions or need help, reach us through the feedback page at stork.news/feedback.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. If we make material changes, we will notify you via email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of Stork News after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
If you have questions about this privacy policy or how we handle your data, please reach us through the feedback page at stork.news/feedback. We aim to respond to all inquiries within 48 hours.
